A quick tip to boost your productivity easily
Want to get more done with your time?
One of the first steps you should take, before even thinking about anything else, is to simply start leaving your phone out of reach whenever you want to focus on something.
You might just find that this incredibly simple piece of advice has a surprising – even embarrassingly – big influence on how much work you get done, and how well you stay focussed.
The truth is, it’s not really our fault that we get distracted so easily.
Why We Can’t Focus
Our phones, and the apps on them, are all literally designed to distract us, draw us in and keep us engaging with them. They make money by grabbing and keeping your attention.
So it’s little wonder that we have limited self control when we try to work with our phones close to our working space.
It may sound too simple, but give it a try, you’ll be amazed how much easier it is to focus when your phone is in the next room, or out of reach.
Another good tip is to go through and turn off any unimportant notifications in your settings – so you are only bothered by things you actually need to respond to.
Most apps these days seek permission to send you endless pointless notifications – all of which can instantly jerk you out of concentration.
What’s worse, they are subconsciously training our brains to avoid deep focus. Take the temptation away, and leave it outside.
If you need to listen out for calls, turn the ringer up and turn off all other notifications.
These small change can make a surprisingly big difference, so give it a try and let us know if you notice the difference.
