We are really spoilt for choice when it comes to plugins and instruments that help us make high-quality music these days.

There are a lot of free plugins floating around out there. Some are a lot better than others – but one plugin stands head and shoulders above the rest.

This particular plugin is so powerful and professional sounding, that it’s hard to believe it’s been made available completely for free.

Normally you get what you pay for, definitely not in this case.

The most beautiful (and free) piano plugin on the internet

The key to a lot of music comes down to the piano sound.

If you don’t have a good piano sound, you’re going to find it more difficult to end up with a good track that captures and expresses the right emotions and feelings.

Fortunately, nobody needs to compromise anymore when it comes to the piano thanks to the amazing LABS plugin from Spitfire Audio.

LABS is a remarkable free plugin with dozens of free, amazing quality software instruments available.

The samples are of fantastic quality. And you have everything from pianos to pads, guitar harmonics and choirs at your fingertips.

To reiterate how good these instruments are and how beautifully they have been created, it’s worth realising that some of Spitfire Audio’s instruments have been included in Ableton 11’s release.

These free instruments that we’re talking about sound extremely rich and organic, and are geared towards soundtracks and orchestral music.

But there is no shortage of applications for them in all kinds of music.

LABS is simply one of the best plug-ins available, and it offers an incredible amount of content completely for free.

Normally you face certain compromises when relying on free or low-cost plugins, not here.

The Soft Piano plug-in is my favourite. It sounds incredible, is tweakable, and I use it on practically every track I make, regardless of genre.

What does it look like?

Not only does it sound amazing, but the user interface is also nothing short of beautiful.

Using a minimalist style, you can add reverb with ease, as well as control the presence and body of the instrument. It has a distinct sound to it, but it’s super versatile.

It sounds a little muted, but it conjures images of smoky jazz bars and late nights. And there are other piano instruments available in the plugin if this one isn’t quite fitting for you.

If you map your midi controller to the slide is, you can add extra levels of expression and beauty to your playing. It sounds really amazing and atmospheric with the inbuilt reverb rolled up high.

I rarely make a lo-fi track these days, without resorting to the Labs plugin as my first port of call.

This Soft Piano has replaced a grand piano in most of my compositions, and I can’t imagine producing music without having it.

If you’re at all interested in composing, scoring, or writing classical music in any way – or even just getting your hands on some good sounding string instruments for pads and other genres of music, this is simply an unmissable free plug-in.

I believe it’s the best free offering available.

I’ve experimented with some of the paid plug-ins from Spitfire Audio, and these are equally high-quality – as you would expect. But what’s amazing is that they’ve made no compromises with these free intro instruments.

The truth is you don’t even need to open your wallet. These are some incredible instruments that are available completely free and some of the best available on the internet.

If you haven’t already downloaded this free plugin, head over there now and grab it immediately. You won’t regret it.
